Get back here, you demon! You can't get away from me!
A single slice of the demon sword, and it was dead. It's body instantly evaporated, and the short girl sheathed the sword in it's case, which was slung around her back. She took a breath and leaned against the nearest tree, watching Mochi, a grey and tan feline-like creature with four ears, climb up to the branch a few inches above her head. He lashed out at something that she recognized as a small demon, and it evaporated as well.
"Wonderful job, Mochi," she praised, reaching up to pet him on the head. He hissed playfully.
"All in a day's work, Neko!" he mewled in his mind, which she could read, since they were both demons. No one heard him if they weren't a demon. That was one cool thing about being part demon: reading their pathetic minds. And, being an exorcist, it also gave the fifteen year old girl quite an edge.
The darkness, however, was something that still chilled her to the bone.
She let out a breath and turned, letting Mochi jump on her shoulder. After hunting in this forest for already three hours, she was exhausted. It truly was a demon hot spot. Funny, she thought. They've all been low levels. How boring... Her thoughts trailed as her familiar cuffed her on the head. He could read the half-demon's thoughts, after all. It was like a demon to demon telepathy type thing.
Suddenly, Neko heard something behind her, and her pointed ear twitched every so slightly. Spinning around, she pulled out her demon sword, which was average looking for a katana, aside from the three blue sapphires lined up along the blade. She inched closer to the sound, keeping her breath as quiet as possible, not knowing if it was a demon or not. Reluctantly, she began reciting the Lord's Prayer as a precaution.
"O, Father in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done..."
