Mysteries land everywhere -- Tea && Ling

[Satoshi Mochida]

Satoshi Mochida had moved away from his old home and academy to a new place where he hopped there would be no more ghost crap but it only seemed that ghost were everywhere. Within his first day here he had ran into one at the Library and it was just awful, he had memories of his former teacher Mrs Yui and all the ghosts he had encountered before. He didn't know what to do now, sure he had made his life about ghost investigations but it didn't matter he was still in to much shock about what had happened.

So, after he had finished unpacking his room, the young male had gone for a walk with a hand in his gray pant pockets. He had his normal outfit on, a white jacket with a blue undershirt and gray jeans. He still followed the code of his old academy and he wasn't gonna change, but with everything on his mind he didn't realize where he was wandering off to or why he had ended up where he did. He ended up in a dense dark forest and in the middle of it for that matter.

Stopping abundantly he looked around and blinked his brown eyes. "Huh .. w-where am I?" he said out loud looking around and then his eyes got wide as he noticed a pair of eyes. He gulped and backed up when another pair of eyes caught his attention from his side glimpse. Crap.. he thought.

Mechka had been out scouring the forest for mushrooms well past the late afternoon. The forest was dark, but she was used to it, and the fact that the stupid goose who had been following her around for the past week or so was with her helped calm whatever fears she may have had. If there were monsters out there, she reasoned, the goose would be hightailing it out of there.

She had a wonderful collection at this point. A few mildly poisonous ones to use for rude guests, some that were good for food, some that were good for eating plain, some that had hallucinogenic effects that the local stoners liked to buy...

Just as she spotted some death caps and went to stamp them down, the stupid goose was off. By the time she finished, he was gone, slowly approaching someone out in the undergrowth.

Just as she realized what he was doing, the goose jumped, honking like a demon of hell, throwing himself at the poor fellow. With a shout she dropped her satchel and ran to his aid, trying to grab the goose before it could bite his nose off.

"I'm so sorry," she gasped, stifling the screaming animal. "Are you all right?"

You might ask questions like, why would a god of the sea be on land?  I'd like to ask myself the same question.  Why would I be here, among the filthy sidewalks instead of on the waxed deck of my ship?  The heavens only knew.  My hands were shoved in my pockets, my body laid back and calm.  I was dressed as usual, princely garbs and all.  But, boy, was I far from a prince.  A pirate king, a man of the oceans, and might I say of the ladies too.  Yet, here I was, pale as light blonde hair tossed back, shining against the harsh sunlight.  My eyes stared off into space, the sky shading, darkening around me.  I took a moment to snap from my "walking" trance.

A dense forest, trees filtering limited clouds of light down upon the floor.  The smell of damp greenery and wetness.  I almost smiled.  Almost.  I sent a quiet look towards a singular direction.  Voices plain to my ears.  I gave a sly grin and headed in the certain direction.  Two people, a boy and a girl.  I cocked my head with interest.  "Oh my, having fun together here?  Should I join in or should I leave you two to each other, hmm?"  I cocked my head innocently and walked up, a leisure laze to my stroll.

"A-Ah!" cried the seventeen year old as he fell back and whimpered. He landed hard on his butt and soon his back. He screamed and swatted at the goose that was trying to attack him "Holy crap!" he cried out and sat up panting his bangs in his eyes as a young female came and saved him from the psycho animal. He ran a hand through his hair and stood up dusting off his clothes quickly backing up groaning slightly in pain sense he had fallen hard.

Looking up he sighed "I-I'm fine, don't worry about it. Animals don't really take a liking to me." he muttered as he looked up a sheepish grin on his face and his hand on the back of his neck "I'm Satoshi Mochida, wh-who are you if you don't mind me asking?" he asked holding out a hand with a smile on his face to show he was friendly. H-Huh? he looked down Strange .. shes gathering mushrooms .. but for? Maybe she uses them to cook ... but some of those look deadly .. wha... this town is strange. Can I really trust her? he wondered.

Then just as he had calmed down the other pair of eyes showed themselves and he let out another girlish cry as he stumbled back keeping his ground though. His hazel brown eyes turned to see a male with dirty blonde hair and what looked like orange eyes Oh crap .. hes creepy .. uhm lovely creepy people .. help me.. he thought silently and rubbed his neck out of being nervous as hell. He gulped and looked at them both backing up enough to see them.

"Uh-Uh. I don't know what you mean by fun .. her goose just nearly killed me if you call that fun." he murmured and blinked "I-I guess you can join whatever the hell is going on.. I'm Satoshi .. w-who are you exactly?" he questioned feeling totally trapped and scared now. Why are all these people in this dark dense forest .. what the hell? he thought shaking his head.

Mechka laughed. Clearly the boy wasn't a monster. Anything that was scared by a goose couldn't be all that bad.

"Mechka Antonov. I live a few miles over that way," she said, gesturing back into the forest. "It's nice to meet you, Satoshi." She shook his hand and returned the smile. "What are you doing so deep in the woods?"

Suddenly the boy let out a cry and stumbled back and the damned goose went wild again, trying to pull itself out of her grasp to attack whoever it was. She let out a bit of a strangled gasp herself and turned, expecting to see some terrifying monster, only to find someone who looked to be a nobleman. He seemed a little pretentious and her eyebrows knitted. Had he intentionally scared them or was the dark just making them paranoid? Keeping the goose tightly folded in one arm, she picked up the mushroom satchel and threw it over her shoulder.

"We're having a blast. Feel free to join," she said and then, after Satoshi's own introduction, added, "and I'm Mechka."

"Oh my, dear boy, you've ruined my fun.  I was only joking, but you've still managed to rain on my parade.  Quite a little ghost chaser aren't you.  Be careful to not wet your pants, you hear?"  I flipped away my light hair and finally gave gracious smile, albeit it was as plastic as a mcdonald's happy meal toy.  I took a small bow, in the middle of it I looked up and gave a wink.  "My oh my, what lovely names you two have, my ears are graced to hear them!"  I straightened back up, tall and lanky body seeming to sway laxly along with the wind.  "In case you wouldn't know, being good children and all, I'm Casper Edeth.  You may also refer to me as the king of the sea, the ocean, water, etcetera, it goes on and on.  My point in this being, I am the Pirate Captain. and I am easily able to have henchmen snap your quivering necks," I said, reaching out to run a fingertip along the front of the boy's neck and to his chin, long black painted nails contrasting the pale skin.

"But, you both know I'm extremely nice!  I wouldn't ever do such a thing to you two cuties!"  I gave a full force smile, white teeth bright like a blinding light.  I plopped down onto the floor, not giving a care if I dirtied my khakis or not.  "Hmm, I miss the ocean..."  I muttered with a stupid smile.

Satoshi blinked and looked at her "W-well its nice to meet you Mechka. I- I just moved in and I'm about two blocks from this creepy forest." he said and blinked "I-I was exploring and my mind kind of wandered and I ended up here. I'm not to sure on how to get out .. but I want to this place gives me the creeps!" he explained shuddering slightly.

"W-what are all those mushrooms for if I may ask?" he questioned tilting his head to the side. His attention turned to the ghost and he raised a brow "And why do you have that little demon with you .. don't you know those things can kill?" he said with fear in his voice as he stayed a good distance from her after shaking her hand, his hand returned to his pocket and his head turned to stare at the male.

"Wha- How did you know I was a ghost investigator?!" he cried out now officially horrified. He blinked Fun? You call this fun? Where the hell have we moved .. people are weird here. he thought to himself. He then looked at him and narrowed his eyes "Its not my fault I get frightened easy .. but I would never do something so childish .." he muttered feeling embarrassed and insulted.

Satoshi felt as though he couldn't trust this guy, he was very mysterious. He blinked and raised a brow That smile .. what in the hell, who is this guy? he wondered silently to himself. He then blinked again "I-uh thank you?" he said in a confused tone to the comment on his name. He turned his attention to Mechka to see if she had the same fear in her eyes as he did but she seemed to be showing no emotion other then struggle of the goose. So he looked back at the mysterious male.

"Ill just refer to you as Casper if you don't mind .." he said quietly A pirate? Strange ... he thought and then his eyes got wide and he leaned back quivering in fear as the male touched his neck. He gulped again and gripped the inside of his pocket with his hand. He stared at him with wide eyes. Threatening me already?! Oh god why.. he thought with a slight whimper.

"W-Uhm .. thanks .. I-I think." he said not sure what to think about this male and right as he named the ocean, Satoshi looked at him "W-Why not go back?" he asked and get away from me.. he thought silently after.

"I make potions," she said. "It's sort of a family thing. I sell them over at the market."

"..Ghost investigator?" she couldn't help but sound a little incredulous. "How do you manage that? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm sure you're very capable when it comes to ghosts, but..."

And on the pirate's part.. was that a threat? She decided to respond, albiet a little testily. "That's just as well. This goose is just raring for some fresh blood." In response to Satoshi's earlier question, she added, "And I didn't choose to associate with him. He's been following me around for days."

She was a little uneasy with his behavior towards Satoshi. Was he threatening them or was it all just a joke?

"...What brings a pirate to the middle of the deep forest?"

I only chuckled, amused by the boy's reactions.  "Hmm, how do I know, how do I know?  I wonder how?  Maybe it's an impression I get from you or it could be a lucky guess.  Luck of the sea, right?"  I cocked my head once more.  Amber eyes curious as to the calming of the boy.  I would have rather liked to keep him in frantics, but all fun must come to an end, yes?  "Peeing yourself isn't childish, I mean, you don't look like a five year old to me," I said, rolling out my cruel punchlines like a jester on death's row.  I looked over to the girl a simple smile.

I was nodding along with her analysis, knowing it to be quite true.  "A captain away from the sea.  I might ask myself the same question.  I came to visit my mother, deathly ill, the poor woman.  I planned to leave straight away, but the land beckons to me after long eternities on the water," I said, closing my eyes and tilting my head to the sky.  "Poetic, right?"

"Potions? Cool!" he said with a smile and then blinked "Family business? Hmm well shoot, I know where to go if I ever need anything." he smiled and then shook his head to her being shocked to him being a ghost investigator. "Its a long story that I don't want to talk about in a creepy forest, maybe if were in a place where ghosts couldn't be then I'll tell you." he said.

His hand lifted and he gave a horrified face at the sound of that "Dear heavens! This is why I don't like animals." he said hanging his head. Then when she asked what brought Casper this deep into the forest, he lifted his head and shot his eyes toward him. Satoshi was also very curious as to why a pirate was on land rather then water. It just didn't add up one bit.

His eyes grew wide and he started at him "Wha- what kind of impression do I give off?!" he asked kinda scared now of his impression. Luck of the sea, what the hell is that suppose to mean? Stupid pirate stuff that I can never understand.. he thought and ran his hand through his hair. He was all so confused by this stupid town. He had a feeling it was going to be worse then were he once lived.

"I hope not being that I am seventeen.. " he muttered. Once he heard that his mother was ill, his eyes saddened and he blinked "O-oh my .. I am so sorry Casper." he said as he lifted his head "But it doesn't hurt to be on the land every now and then, being the sea is dangerous though land is no better." he said dryly. He then shook his head and shrugged "I've heard better." he answered in reply to the poetic thing.

Mechka grinned. "After the incident with this stupid animal, it'll be on the house. I've got healing potions, poisoning potions, concentration potions, hallucinogenic potions..." realizing that she was rambling, she cut herself off. "And you need to share your story with me. In the daylight," she added.

"...Are you okay out here? We can go somewhere lighter. This is a really thick part of the woods." Poor Satoshi looked really uncomfortable. The creepy pirate couldn't help, though.

Noticing the goose had calmed down, she slowly put him on the ground. He simply glared at her and let out an angry honk, waddling back into the trees. She found herself hoping a fox would find him.

The pirate's 'poem' was a little bland, but Mechka didn't comment. After Satoshi apologized about his mother, she did, as well. "I'm so sorry. Can she be helped?"

I frowned at their reactions.  I looked over to Satoshi in particular.  "Not a cute reaction at all.  I likeit better when you're scared, it suits you."  I gave a playful yet evil grin before acknowledging their sorrows and apologies.  I gave a snort.  "That self-empowered woman won't take money or medication from anyone.  She's dead broke and she'll send you through hell and back if you try and help her.  It's like getting a bear into an extra small ballerina dress and shoes.  Not.  Going.  To.  Happen."  I laid back, propping myself up with my elbows lazily.  "Hmm, I think my poem was quite grand, too, too bad."  I pulled myself up.  "Oh, you want to get rid of me?  Hmm, that's troubling... how about this, we go to my ship!"  I jumped with excitement, adding in a little spin.

"Please!  Let's go!"

The male looked at her and smiled "Gee thanks! But I will still give a tip its not in my nature not to pay at all. Trust me I've been nearly killed by worse then that thing." he said with a smile and grinned "We can talk later about the potions." he said then smiled "Why don't we hang out some day at one of our places and ill tell you the whole story if you want." he said cheerfully. He liked this girl more then he liked the pirate, the pirate just made him want to curl up and cry he was so creepy!

"N-No I'm fine. I'm still getting use to this town, I'll be like this and possibly worse for a few months." he said his face filling with a blush as he put his hand to his mouth feeling totally embarrassed that she had to ask him that. He then let out a cry and stood there a foot up and a hand shot back as she let the goose down. His eyes followed it and he jumped back letting out a yelp when it honked. He shuddered watching it walk away and he sighed.

"Demon creature.." he muttered. Then he looked back at Casper and sighed waiting for his answer. Then he put his hand up and gave a horrified face "What kind of person are you liking to see a person scared?! This town is twisted .." he said with a sharp breathe. My eyes got wide and slowly I backed up more as he gave a evil grin. Satoshi was a major wimp when it came to situations like this unless he was protecting someone he cared about then he tried acting tough.

The male shook his head and sighed "Shame about your mother .. its like shes just accepting it, I wouldn't want to accept it." he muttered and giggled slightly at the metaphor the male used. It was true, he had tried it once and nearly got his face torn to shreds if he didn't get saved by his friends. Stupid Truth or Dare game. That's why he wasn't fond of games either.

Then the tom heard him ask about the ship. He blinked and gulped "U-Uh I got to go home though .. I'm sorry to end your fun!" he cried. Hell no! This guy could kidnap me .. oh please don't say sure Mechika.. he thought looking over at her.

"Of course! I'd be glad to hear it."

Mechka was a little irritated at Casper's statement about his mother. She didn't know how hard the pirate had actually tried, but...

"Why not try to slip some in? Or act as though you're doing her a favor by helping somehow? Are you sure we can't help in any way?"

"It's not the town! He's not even from the town. The townspeople themeselves are pretty nice. They're ordinary folks but most are pretty honest and good for business.

Satoshi clearly didn't want to go on the pirate ship. She was curious herself, but the fact was that they'd just met this guy. She hesitated. "I think it'd be neat, but Satoshi's right-- it's getting late. Plus the only thing we know about you is that you're some sort of pirate king. Doesn't seem too safe to me."
